How I Can Help
Butterflies Diagnostics provides speech, language and communication assessment, therapy and support alongside neurodiversity‑affirming autism and ADHD assessment services. My practice is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect for every individual’s unique way of being. Therefore, this space is Neuroinclusive, whilst respecting my own autistic, neurodivergent identity and maintaining the principles of the neurodiversity paradigm.
Sometimes neurodiversity is spoken about in ways that can feel dividing or separating. In this space, I want to recognise each person’s unique neurotype, individuality, strengths, challenges and context, while also naming the role of neuronormativity in shaping access, belonging and support. Self-identification and self-diagnosis (add info sheet) are valid and respected here.
My approach is based around the sensitivities and responses related to the nervous system and as a human, how we individually respond to our environment and both internal and external stimuli. Therefore, how you, as an individual, experience the world is valid and a natural response for you.
To access my resources and services, you do not need a formal diagnosis. Have a look and try a strategy, if it works great! Adopt it into your daily routine, if not, investigate other strategies. All humans are unique, and not all strategies or resources are effective or appropriate for anyone. Not everyone can afford a therapist, counsellors and/or an advocate and therefore this space will provide online free resources as well as paid resources and courses. Wherever possible I will endeavour to make resources assessable to all.
My Story
With over 23 years of experience working with autistic and neurodivergent individuals, my practice is grounded in both professional expertise and lived experience.
Throughout my career in the NHS and wider services, I have worked alongside individuals, families and professionals across education, mental health, legal and social care settings to support understanding, advocacy and meaningful change. My approach is trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming and centred on respect for autonomy, identity and inclusion.

Parent of a PDA’er
“We highly recommend Debbie to anyone that has children with speech and language development issues – she is a subject matter expert and tailored the interactions to maximise learning with our child – 100% recommended!”.
Parent of child with SLCN
“We have already implemented the strategies from Debbie and they are making a real difference for X and for the family. I finally feel like there is a glimmer of hope. Thank you so much. Always happy to recommend”.

Why Butterflies Diagnostics
My work is intentionally aligned with the Neurodiversity Paradigm and grounded in respect, validation and strengths‑based, non‑pathologising understanding. I am committed to supporting the development of the outdated SALT/health professionalspractices, which are negatively impacting the ND community & supporting an inclusiveneurodiversity-affirming framework for future assessment and therapy practices and to promoting the inclusion of neurodivergent professionals within society, health organisations, local authorities and private companies.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
Practice Statement

Butterflies Diagnostics is a Neurodiversity-Affirming Practice. We believe in the Neurodiversity Paradigm, which aligns with the acceptance that different neurotypes are all created equally within the human species and that neurodiversity is a naturally occurring difference in neurocognitive functioning. We do not consider different neurotypes to be disordered and do not use deficit-based approaches.
We view individuals through a strengths-based lens, with respect, validation, and acceptance of their neurocognitive functioning, strengths, and values.
As such, we do not endorse, support, or liaise with any individual, family, company, or organisation that engages in Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA). We will not assess a child who is currently receiving, or who will be exposed to, ABA.
